the more i see the less i know

I was recently brainstorming winter activities and I remembered that our town has an airplane museum that I've never even been to.  Joony loves airplanes (and trucks and tractors, of course), so I tucked that away in the back of my mind and figured we'd go the next time we felt antsy inside.  Well, it turns out that day was today, so after his nap and lunch, we headed out!

I've struggled lately to do things that I know Joony will love. He just gets too excited, and then he ends up hurting himself or throwing a massive tantrum when we leave and it gets me so flustered and exasperated that I swear I'm never taking him to a fun activity for the rest of his life.  I want to be an adventurous mom, though, and I want him to have memories of us doing fun things together.

All that to say, I made a game plan for the inevitable tantrum (which mostly consisted of: stay calm, deep breaths, and then hurry up and GTFOOT when it's time) and went anyways.  Of course, we ended up having a blast, and it was warm enough outside (35*!) to stroll around the huge, empty parking lot for a while once we were done inside. That fresh air felt good...and of course, he threw a tantrum once it was time to get back in the car, but I kept my cool, followed the plan, and hit Jamba Juice on the way home. Afternoon success!

  1. I just want to give you props for this. My daughter turned 2 in January, and we go through the same thing sometimes? "Do I want to even bother to take her to play in the snow, anticipating the complete and total meltdown when we come in?" Good job, and I appreciate your honesty <3

I think you're smart, pretty, & entitled to your own opinion.

I'd love it if the feeling was mutual!
